Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes (AHELO)

The Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes (AHELO) Feasibility Study is an OECD initiative. Led by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), the purpose of the AHELO Feasibility Study is to determine whether it is possible to measure higher education learning outcomes in ways which are comparable across cultural, language and institutional variations. The Feasibility Study involved the development and localisation of instruments to test students in three strands – generic skills, economics and civil engineering. Fieldwork for the AHELO Feasibility Study took place in 2012 and involved 23,000 students and 5000 faculty across 250 higher education institutions in 17 countries.
