Google : friend or foe?
Abstract
This article discusses the essential nature of Internet search engines, using Google as its primary example. It explains how the results from Google searches are sorted, and the shortcomings of its algorithm. The exploitation of this method is discussed, primarily in relation to exploitation of children. Use of filters and parental and teacher supervision of the use of search engines is discussed as a means of ensuring Internet safety for users.
