Schools 4 Schools : two-way street

Abstract

The author outlines his school's association with the Oaktree Foundation, which provides education, books, technology, training and mentoring in seven developing countries and is also involved in fund-raising activities. The Foundation's Schools 4 Schools program, launched in February 2007, is another project that Carey students have become involved in. The program aims to bring Australian schools into partnership with schools in the developing world, encouraging and equipping students to develop their skills, educate each other and work together to create change. The program's goal is to inspire and empower a generation of students from across Australia and South Africa to be not just leaders in their communities but leaders who are change agents.
