Abstract
Schools that are designed on principles of environmental sustainability are environmentally sustainable but they are also educational tools that can help students to understand the mechanics behind sustainable design. At Architectus, a group of young architects have been exploring several educational projects under the guidance of experienced practice directors. The principles of sustainable architectural solutions using a passive environmental strategy are illustrated by examples from the firm's work on school buildings such as Clonard College's Year 7 Centre, Luther College Middle School, Star of the Sea College Performing Arts centre and Building 2012 at RMIT University's Bundoora West Campus.
