Work-life balance : solving the wellbeing puzzle
Abstract
Happy and well-adjusted staff are important if a school is to meet the needs of its students. The author describes her work as chair of the Health and Wellbeing Committee at her school, St Margaret's in Brisbane. She outlines a number of the programs that have been implemented, such as yoga and fitness classes for staff, free fresh fruit for staff and students, a review of the tuckshop menu, staff participation in fun runs and dragon boat racing, free massages for staff. The school also supports staff in their pursuit of postgraduate education and attendance at professional development events, such as conferences. [Author abstract, ed]
