Article Title

Just do it : film making in schools

Abstract

The article profiles the work of a secondary school student, Henry Smith from South Australia, and Tom Gough, a primary school teacher in New South Wales, who are involved with making films. The student describes how he became interested in film-making and television in a Year 10 multimedia course at Concordia College. He subsequently produced a 'claymation' called 'Larry' with a sequel, 'Barry'. He is now studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts at Flinders University and intends to become a cinematographer. The primary school teacher describes how film-making can be used to integrate the work of students across key learning areas. He outlines several projects and the films that he and his students at Glenwood Public School have created. [Author abstract, ed]
