Article Title

Information technology, gender imbalance and what to do about it

Abstract

This article reports on the problem within the computing and information technology (CIT) industry, that although traditional gender lines have blurred over the years and advancements towards true gender equity, gender-based stereotypes persist in some areas of the industry and some parts of the curriculum. In investigating possible reasons for the gender gap in the CIT industry, the article discusses the experience of CIT education in secondary schools and the role of gender there, and how schools can work to correct the gender disparity.
