Love Zombies : integrating learning through the arts
Abstract
'Love Zombies', a partnership between Big hART and Wynyard High School in Tasmania, shows how learning can be integrated through the arts. Big hART is a not-for-profit theatre company and became involved in the school's biennial theatre production in 2008. The author describes the development of the 'Love Zombies' production, with associated workshop activities. At the end of the development journey, the production was performed 11 times in 14 times and judged a great success by participants and audiences alike. Working with Big hART provided both students and staff with the chance to work closely with a nationally-acclaimed professional production company. The students grew visibly in confidence and responded positively to the coaching and high expectations that came with working with Big hART. [Author abstract, ed]
