The article describes the author's interaction with Isaac, a Sudanese refugee who had never attended school before and had witnessed the ravages of civil war and experienced the death of his father. The author describes his interaction with this student as he watched him develop as an individual, learn English and become literate, and develop his superior sporting abilities.
