CEET was established in 1992 as a joint centre of the faculties of Education and Business and Economics and with close links with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). From 1994 to 2009 it operated as the Monash University-ACER Centre for the Economics of Education and Training. It is now an entity within the Faculty of Education.
