Abstract
The Australia Awards Global Tracer Facility undertakes a range of research in order to enable the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to assess the development contributions, and public and economic diplomacy outcomes of Australia’s investment in Australia Awards. This second annual Tracer Survey involved the engagement of 1,072 alumni from the 1996 to 2005 cohort from 36 countries. The survey data provide valuable quantitative insight into alumni use of knowledge and skills, development of networks and contribution to cooperation with Australia. The responses also offer examples from alumni of the types of contributions they are making, the way in which they are using their award and the things that help, and hinder them in reaching their potential. The Tracer Survey also explored the contribution of the Australia Awards to gender equity, disability inclusiveness and increasing opportunities in rural and remote areas.
